S•CAB is a family story spanning sixty years of dedication and passion for the world of furniture. It all began in 1957 when SCAB and its first workshop in Coccaglio, Brescia, initially came to life.

In an Italy in great ferment, where design becomes a tool for experimentation and economic revival, Francesco Battaglia launches a production of furniture and household goods aimed at a rising middle class, which looks to the domestic space as the place where it can give shape to its dreams of well-being.

The essential: the chair – From the 1960s onwards, S•cab refined its focus, specialising in seating. As the product range diversified to meet the needs of residential and outdoor spaces, plastic – the new star of furniture design – became the company’s key area of expertise.

In 2022, S•CAB was added to the register of Historic Italian Brands of National Interest, further recognising its commitment to high-quality, enduring production.

Over time, the production facilities were expanded to enable the use of steel, wood and fabrics, catering to the growing demand for customisation in the commercial sector. This commitment and drive for growth culminated after numerous decades in 2015, when Francesco Battaglia was awarded the highest institutional honour in Italian business: the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro.

New showroom and offices – In 2021, a new showroom was opened at the Coccaglio site. Designed by Architect Luca Piatti, the 600 square-metre industrial space celebrates its original architectural and textural features, from vaulted ceilings to structural tie-rods, iron-framed windows and continuous resin flooring.
